Hello Fellow harpers,
Can anyone out there in Mitch Grainger Land help me figure out how to post a soundbite in my reply to “the Lick of the week”? I am using a voice recorder in windows 10 on a PC.

I have moved my soundbites to Souncloud (soundcloud.com) – you can see the links in my posts. I found it very easy to set up my account and upload my recordings.
I use audacity to record my licks and convert to mp3 before uploading.
Seeing forward to your posts in LOTW.

Thanks so much for responding! I downloaded audacity, but I need something to convert it to an MP3. What do you use to convert your files to MP3? Thank you so much for helping me with this.

In audacity you have File->Export->Export As MP3…
This will guide you through two dialogs where you specify quality and meta information before exporting your recording.
Please let me know if it works for you.

On macOS it looks like the attached screenshot.

That is what mine looks like as well. It says I need to download something else to be able to convert it to an mp3. The program is “LAME”. I looked it up and it looks ok, everyone says it is safe. I was eager to find a way to make this happen, because I feel it would help my playing if I was more visible in the program. But I realized that my wife and I are actually sending this computer back to the manufacturer in a couple of days to get a fix a faulty hard drive in it, so everything that I download will need to be put back on in two weeks when I get it back. So I will try again after our computer gets fixed. Thank you so much for the help figuring this out and I look forward to addressing it as soon as it gets back.

Nonetheless please post your recording. Mitch should be able to listen to it regardless of the format you chose.
I forgot that Lame is needed. It was already on my machine when I installed audacity.

Hi Shawn, Udo and ….
Yes please get the soundsamples on there we need to get more people doing this, we all have the same drive learning to play this little instrument as good as posible 😉 and we have Mitch to help us getting us on the right track.
I’m recording from my celphones dictafoon and sending it to “box” (that’s an app) and there you can make a link, this link i copy to the lick of the week.
Hope there will be more students hop on the train 😉

Hi Udo, Henk, and Mitch,
Thank you all so much for your help. I realize that this is over a year later that I am just getting to this. I wanted to get back in touch with you because I never followed through with actually posting the audio and I wanted to explain why. I had been going through some intense health problems for a while when I had wrote this and up to that point when I sent this, Mitch’s course was giving me so much hope through it, actually being able to see myself progressing at something was amazing, but I actually got to the place where I felt too fatigued to play…pretty humbling place! I have been working really hard at getting back to health and I am so thankfully at a place to start playing again and I wanted to pick up where I left off. We actually joined the “times” and got a smart phone, and I am using “Box” like Henk recommended. I am explaining this because just not responding or following through with posting the “audio” doesn’t show my character or my gratitude for your help. So thank you all again and I am so looking forward to getting back into the swing of things.

Good having you back and to read you are getting healthier every day a bit.
I think music is a medicine of its own for you.
