sorry about my spelling. I have just really started now that i got my new harp. Clear notes is coming along nicely, But my train don’t even sound close to what yours sounds like. So i made a music clip the best i could. no experience or equipment. So if you would take a listen and give some feedback, i would really appreciate that. I know as a beginner i have to practice and grow, but i would like to at least sound a little bit like your train. 🙂

    Hey John,

That is a great sounding train. Nothing wrong with that, especially for a beginner!

The only I suggestion I have is to really accentuate the A-TIC-A. So that there is a little more separation on those chords and the T sound really pops out. That T sound is made by the same action as when your Tsking some one who’s been naughty. The tongue hits the top of your mouth.

Hope that helps. Let us know.. 🙂

    Hey Thanks Mitch.

    I’ll give it a try.

With some more practice , I’ll make another sound clip.

Heres my train after a week of practise.
Mitch am I doing it wrong because your train sounds very forceful where as mine sounds like I am trying too hard to get the train.
    Check the sample clip

PS- above i meant your train sounds very soulful, the autocorrect made it forceful..???

    Hey Shaskank,

You answered your own question there. Instead of trying to go faster, keep practicing at the slower pace until it is really comfortable. Then, you can add more feeling!

    Cheers,

    Hello Everyone

I keep filling up with air as i exercise with the train. I try to loosening my lips on the exhale , but that does not seem enough, I was wondering if someone could elaborate on how to get rid of excess air and if using your nose is bad form.

    Hello John,
I had a similar issue, but more so on the laughing clown than on the train. Maybe what Mitch and Ian said there is useful for you too?
