I am beginning the tutorial here to learn harmonica. Can anyone give me advice about how to learn to count. I understand the theory. I just don’t know how to make it work in reality. I can count in my head, but it has no relationship to what I play. Like performing two independent tasks at the same time. Thanks for any suggestions.

    Ken,

    Please have a look at:

Or go to YouTube and search for “metronome harmonica”.

There are also some great mobile phone apps that give a lovely visual representation on each beat. I have used one especially when trying to up my tempo progressively.

Which one do you recommend? I like the Soundbrenner App.

    Hi Ken,

First just start out by tapping your foot to your favorite songs. It’s the bodies metronome. 🙂

After a while you will not need to think about it and the foot will just tap by itself!

Then adding an actual metronome can hep too, but you need feel it. That’s why the foot is a good one!

Let us know how it goes.
