That’s a great question. I intentionally leave it out, so that students take the time to get the 2 hole happening clearly. This is because the bend of the 2 hole is integral to blues harp playing.
However, the people paying attention like yourself soon figure out you can replace the 2 draw with a 3 blow, and they put it into their playing.
It sounds to me like you are thinking about this the right way! It is a preference, and case by case situation. That is once you have a great 2 draw, and 3 blow!
There’s a lot of great licks that can come from the 3 blow. 😉
